Our Team

Executive Board

The Executive Board is comprised of Local 955 members who have been elected to office by the membership. Elections are held every four years. The Executive Board and the Business Manager work together to ensure the highest integrity and create policies with the members’ interest at heart. Executive Board Meetings are held quarterly and the minutes are read out to the membership at General Membership meetings following each Executive Board Meeting. Any proposed changes in policies put forward by the Executive Board are voted on by the membership at these meetings. The Executive Board closely follows the guidelines, rules and regulations set out in our Constitution and By-Laws.

The President is the Chair of the Executive Board and the Table Officers consist of the Business Manager, President, Vice-President, Recording Corresponding Secretary, Financial Secretary and the Treasurer.  The Board also has a Conductor, Guard, three Trustees, three Auditors and three Members at Large representing each District.

Business Manager

The Business Manager is elected and is the Chief Executive Officer of the Local Union. As a member of the Executive Board, Co-Chair of the Health & Wellness, Pension and Training Trust Boards, the Business Manager acts in the best interests of the membership. The Business Manager is the face and voice of the union with other building trades unions, advocacy groups and government officials and is proud to carry out the union’s mission on a daily basis.

Business Representatives

Business Representatives oversee a district office. In the absence of the Business Manager, the Business Representative is the most senior Union representative in the district to address address Union matters.  Business Representatives also have the same responsibilities as Business Agents – handling labour relations issues, dealing with day-to-day issues between members and our signatory employers, and collective bargaining.

Business Agents

Business Agents represent our members collectively. They communicate with signatory employers, negotiate collective agreements, ensure collective agreements are followed, and resolve disputes between our members and our signatory employers. Our Business Agents ensure our members are treated fairly in the workplace.

Job Stewards

Job Stewards are members who volunteer to be front line representatives of the union in the workplace. They are trained to be the link between members, employers and the union. Job Stewards ensure collective agreements are followed and help resolve workplace issues.

Our administration team is here to serve our members.

Administrative staff help members in person and over the phone – answering general questions, taking payments, and directing them to the right person or department. The administration team also helps members behind the scenes – processing resumes and applications, and mailing them important news and information about the union.

Our administration team is always striving to improve delivery of services to our members.

Working together with employers and members, our dispatch team matches the right workers with the right jobs. We’re proud to contribute to Alberta’s top industries every day – our highly skilled and flexible workforce brings the right skills to the right place at the right time.

Effective communication, support from our business agents, and sound agreements with some of Alberta’s best employers result in a speedy and efficient dispatching process.
